Descriptions & Duties

Clinical Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provides management for critically ill neonates with congenital abnormalities, birth trauma, and extreme prematurity in level III and IV intensive care settings as a Doctoral prepared neonatal nurse practitioner.

  • Completes advanced practice skills and procedures such as endotracheal intubation, lumbar punctures, and insertion of umbilical lines

  • Additional privileges in circumcision of male infants with average of ~75 circumcisions per year.

  • Rotation through three units including two delivery hospitals as well as a referral hospital which provides ECMO in Metropolitan GA.

Academia Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintain ongoing relationship with student learners, clinical sites, and preceptors throughout the semester.

  • Maintains notes for each student documenting performance, areas for improvement, feedback and student responses to feedback. 

  • Precepts and mentors students in the clinical setting during final role transition.

  • Evaluation and grading of assignments, clinical journals, progress notes, and time logs.
